On the occasion of World Environment Day on Monday 5th June 2023, Shri Kshetra Lenyadri hill beautification campaign which is one of the Ashtavinayaka pilgrimage sites was launched by planting trees.
Through Sri Kshetra Lenyadri Ganapati Devasthan Trust, many facilities are provided to the devotees and tourists and various social activities are carried out. Jitendra Bidwai, President of the Devasthan Trust and Shankar Tamhane, Secretary, informed that ‘Sri Kshetra Lenyadri Dongar Sushobhikaran Abhiyan’ will be implemented under this initiative.
Many devotees and tourists come to Sri Kshetra Lenyadri to have a darshan of Sri. Devotees and tourists who come to see Shri have to climb three and a half hundred steps. The Devasthan Trust and the Department of Archeology of India are trying to make the visit of the devotees and tourists easy and pleasant. For this, Shri Kshetra Lenyadri hill beautification campaign is being implemented and various activities are going to be implemented in order to increase the cleanliness and beauty of Shri Kshetra Lenyadri hill and to make Lenyadri hill evergreen. Accordingly, on Monday 5th June 2023, a tree plantation program was started on the hill of Sri Kshetra Lenyadri on the occasion of World Environment Day. The program was started with ritual puja by the temple secretary Shankar Tamhane. After that, the President of the Devasthan Jitendra Bidwai welcomed the dignitaries and said in the opening speech of the program that under this campaign Sri Kshetra Lenyadri will be beautified by planting flowers on both sides of the steps on Darshan Marga. Also, various flowers and fruit trees will be planted on the entire mountain of Lenyadri. The ‘Ganeshavan’ project of 21 plants loved by Shri Ganapati Bappa will also be realized at this place through the tourism department. Also, through the forest department, pagodas, Deorai and Facilities such as accessible toilets, rest benches, drinking water system, waiting shed, railings on the darshan path etc. will be provided through the Department of Archeology of India. Also, in order to make Lenyadri hill look evergreen throughout the year and also to enhance the natural beauty here, we are implementing ‘Sri Kshetra Lenyadri Hill Beautification Campaign’ in collaboration with Sri Lenyadri Ganapati Devasthan Trust, Archaeological Department of India, Forest Department and various social organizations. The dignitaries who came praised the temple in their speech and promised to support the said activity. In his speech, Sub Divisional Police Officer of Junnar Ravindra Chaudhar informed that special efforts will be made for the security of the shrine. After that, Shankar Tamhane, Secretary of Devasthan Trust thanked the dignitaries who came and felicitated them.
