On the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, a grand Mahayagya of Lord Ganesha was held at the Shri Kshetra Lenyadri temple in Junnar, on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Thousands of devotees gathered to seek darshan of the idol of Shri Girijatmaj Ganapati at the Shri Kshetra Lenyadri temple. Throughout the day, there was a huge crowd of devotees. The temple was decorated with beautiful flowers and the idol of Shri Girijatmaj Ganapati was adorned with special clothing.
During the holy month of Shravan and on the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, the Shri Ganesh Mahayagya was organized by the temple trust. This information was provided by Jitendra Bidave, the president of the temple trust, and Secretary Shankar Tamhane. The program started at 5:30 AM with an ablution of the idol of Shri Ganesh by the temple president, Jitendra Bidave, along with the vice-president Sanjay Dhekane, trustee Sadashiv Tamhane, and Jayawant Dokes. The devotees then came to the temple to get the darshan. The temple was open for darshan from morning to evening during which various religious rituals were conducted. The temple trust also provided various services to the devotees.
Due to the holy month of Shravan and Sankashti Chaturthi, there was a large crowd of devotees and tourists. However, the temple trust had arranged for the proper management of the devotees’ visits. The Shri Ganesh Mahayagya was organized by the temple trust with the participation of 121 Yajmans. The necessary literature and facilities were provided by the temple trust. The event started with the lighting of the lamps and the worship of Shri Ganesh. Then, a formal worship, Homa Havan, and Mahadarshan were conducted followed by honoring the Yajmans.
Also, a charity program was organized in the memory of Vilas Pandurang Bhujbal who donated a significant amount to the Ganesh Mahayagya. Chandrodya’s bhajan program was held in the temple in the evening. Later in the night, Chaitanya Sadashiv Shete organized a Mahaprasad for the devotees.
Devotees from different areas such as Pune, Ahmednagar, Mumbai, Thane, and Nashik had come to seek darshan of Lord Ganesh. The temple president Jitendra Bidave and Secretary Shankar Tamhane provided this information.
