Large Gathering of Devotees at Shri Kshetra Lenyadri on the Occasion of Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi
On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, thousands of devotees visited the Shri Girijātmaja Ganapati Temple at Shri Kshetra Lenyadri (Taluka Junnar), one of the Ashtavinayak pilgrimage sites, on the occasion of Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi.
As Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi fell during the month of Bhadrapada and holds special religious significance, a large number of devotees visited the temple throughout the day. The entire Shri Kshetra Lenyadri area took on the appearance of a grand religious fair. The Devasthan President Adv. Sanjay Dhekane, along with trustees Sadashiv Tamhane and Kailas Lokhande. Following the rituals, devotees were idol of Shri Girijātmaja Ganapati and the temple premises were beautifully decorated with flowers for the occasion.
On behalf of the Shri Lenyadri Ganapati Devasthan, a ceremonial abhishek (ritual bathing) and Mahapuja were performed at 6:15 a.m. by Devasthan President Adv. Sanjay Dhekane, along with trustees Sadashiv Tamhane and Kailas Lokhande. Following the rituals, devotees were allowed to have darshan of the deity.
Devotees and well-wishers also donated fruits as naivedya (religious offering). Kailas Laxman Lokhande of Golegav donated one crate of guavas; Sachin Sadashiv Tamhane of Golegav donated two crates of papayas; Sanjay Mahadev Bankar of Narayangaon, Saraswati Ashtavinayak Group of Daund, Sandesh Uttam Lokhande and Mahesh Ashok Sarjine of Golegav each donated two crates of bananas. Ankush Jalindar Doke of Kumshet donated one crate of bananas as prasad.
Mahaaratis were performed at 7 a.m., 12 noon and 7 p.m. Various religious rituals were conducted throughout the day by the Devasthan on the occasion of Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi. The temple trust made several arrangements and provided various facilities for the, the temple witnessed a large gathering of devotees and tourists throughout the day. The Devasthan Trust made arrangements to manage the crowd and facilitate smooth devotees.
A khichdi Mahaprasad was also organized for devotees by the Warkari community in memory of the late H.B.P. Laxman Keru Bhosale.
Since Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi holds special religious significance, the temple witnessed a large gathering of devotees and tourists throughout the day. The Devasthan Trust made arrangements to manage the crowd and facilitate smooth darshan for visitors.
A blood donation camp was also organized jointly by the Devasthan Trust and Shivneri Blood Centre on the occasion.
Devasthan President Adv. Sanjay Dhekane, Vice-President Govind Meher, Secretary Shankar Tamhane, Treasurer Bhagwan Hande, trustees Machhindra Shete, Sadashiv Tamhane, Kashinath Lokhande, Jaywant Doke and Jitendra Bidwai, Office Secretary Rohidas Bidwai, Manager Nilesh Sarjine, employees, residents of Golegav and a large number of devotees were present.
In the evening, a musical bhajan program was presented by Shri Muktai Prasadic Bhajani Mandal of Shivaichi Wadi. A special Mahaarati of Shri Girijharam Pardhi of Narayangaon, Ramdas Sakharam Tajane and Nikhil Chandrakant Gonge of Junnar, Ganesh Vijaykumar Nanavare of Shrigonda, Ravindra Hanumant Sawant of Pimple Gurav and Yogesh Bhaskarraātmaja Ganapati was performed at the time of moonrise.
Following the Mahaarati, Mahaprasad was arranged for devotees by Sakharam Pardhi of Narayangaon, Ramdas Sakharam Tajane and Nikhil Chandrakant Gonge of Junnar, Ganesh Vijaykumar Nanavare of Shrigonda, Ravindra Hanumant Sawant of Pimple Gurav and Yogesh Bhaskarrao Dharankar of Nashik.
On the occasion of Angarak Sankashti Chaturthi, prominent personalities from various fields also visited the temple and sought the blessings of Shri Girijātmaja Ganapati. A large number of devotees arrived from Pune, Ahmednagar, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Junnar and surrounding areas to have darshan.
