Large Gathering of Devotees at Lenyadri on the Occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi

Thousands of devotees visited the revered Shri Girijatmaj Ganapati Temple at Lenyadri (Taluka Junnar) on Monday, August 31, 2026, on the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi. Since the day also coincided with Shravani Somvar (Monday during the holy month of Shravan), the temple witnessed a large influx of devotees and tourists. The entire Lenyadri area took on the atmosphere of a religious fair. On the occasion, the idol of Shri Girijatmaj and the temple premises were beautifully decorated with flowers.

On behalf of the Shri Lenyadri Ganapati Temple Trust, an abhishek (ritual bathing of the deity) and Mahapuja were performed at 6:15 a.m. by temple trustee Sadashiv Tamhane. Following the rituals, devotees were allowed to have darshan of the deity.

For Sankashti Chaturthi, the idol of Shri Girijatmaj Ganapati and the temple premises were attractively decorated with flowers. Balasaheb Bapu Thorat of Manchar donated three crates of bananas as an offering for the deity’s prasad.

Mahaaratis were performed at 7:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 7:00 p.m. Various religious rituals were conducted throughout the day by the temple trust. The trust also provided various facilities for devotees. Due to Sankashti Chaturthi and Shravani Somvar, the temple experienced a particularly large crowd of devotees and tourists. The temple trust made special arrangements to manage the crowd and ensure that devotees could have a smooth and convenient darshan.

Temple Trust President Adv. Sanjay Dhekane, Vice-President Govind Meher, Secretary Shankar Tamhane, Treasurer Bhagwan Hande, trustees Machhindra Shete, Sadashiv Tamhane, Kashinath Lokhande and Jaywant Doke, Office Secretary Rohidas Bidwai, Manager Nilesh Sarjine, along with employees, villagers and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.

In the evening, a musical bhajan programme was performed by Shri Muktai Prasadic Bhajani Mandal of Shivechiwadi. A Mahaarati of the deity was performed at moonrise at night. Thereafter, the Jai Maharashtra Group from Golegaon and Sanket Bajrang Mundhe of Rajgurunagar jointly arranged Mahaprasad for the devotees.

On the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, several dignitaries from different fields also visited the temple and sought the blessings of Shri Girijatmaj. A large number of devotees travelled from Pune, Ahmednagar, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik and the Junnar region to have darshan of the deity.
